Library and Information Science students on study tour of CILS

Master's Students of the Department of Library and Information Sciences, Faculty of Communication and Information Science last Wednesday (January 23, 2019) undertook a training tour of the Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin.

 The students who were received by the Acting Director of the Centre, Dr. I. A. Jawondo, were at the Centre for the purpose of learning and fulfilling part of the requirement to complete their continuous assessment, a mandatory prerequisite for earning their degree.

Speaking through the Research Fellow of the Centre, Dr. A. B. Ambali, the Acting Director intimated the students with the collection and preservation of manuscripts, artifacts and other materials at the Centre.

In his remarks, the lecturer in charge of the course, LIS 811 Records and Archives Management, Dr. M. L. Akanbi, said that the tour was mainly to find out how records were being properly organised and managed in all repositories at the Centre.

Dr. Akanbi thanked the management of the Centre for their reception, adding that the essence of learning the course and coming to the Centre to learn how old records were being managed for the purpose of posterity has been realised.
